Supervision

Weights and reasoning are revealed as you select, so you learn while you work. For the exam experience with nothing revealed, sit a mock exam instead.

You are a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) at a community counselling agency in Windsor. Your certificate requires clinical supervision. The agency provides it through a weekly ninety-minute group: one supervisor, Elaine, an RP of twenty years whose background is couples work, and six supervisees including you. Marcus Delisle, 44, was referred eleven months ago after a forklift struck him at the plant. You began with anxiety and sleep, and the work went well for most of a year. It has changed over the last two months. Marcus loses time: twice he has arrived with no memory of the drive. Last week he described watching himself from the corner of the room while his wife spoke to him. In parts of sessions he refers to himself in the third person, and his voice changes. You have had no training in working with dissociation. You have not brought Marcus to the group, partly because the group always runs long, and partly because you do not want to look out of your depth in front of five colleagues. Marcus does not know that his therapy is discussed anywhere. Supervision is tomorrow.
