You are a Registered Psychotherapist at a university counselling service in London, Ontario. He came in September for what he called 'stress and low mood.' In the third session he told you he is a trans man and has had no contact with his parents since he came out eighteen months ago. The work has gone steadily since: his sleep improved, he joined a study group, his marks held through the winter term. It is session nine. He arrives in the clothes he wore last week, has not shaved, and sits down without taking his coat off. He says he has not slept properly in about three weeks and has missed most of one course. Then, looking at the floor, he says that something happened at a party in first year that he has never told anyone, and describes in a few flat sentences being sexually assaulted. He stops. After a while he says, 'So I've got three left, right? Then that's it.'
